Over the past year or so, I've been reading blogs, articles, and papers, watching videos and learning about various exciting methods and technologies as well as current challenges in making microbes help us humans sustainably supply our society with food and materials.
Of course, excessive and frankly unnecessary total global material consumption--for example of items like excessive packaging--as well as material wasting, such as dumping almost-new clothing as in fast fashion and the notorious issue of food waste, are fundamental root issues that should be addressed first.
However, the methods explored below will at least unlock vast technological potential towards reducing the footprint of production methods that are emitting greenhouse gases, releasing toxic pollutants into the environment and degrading natural habitats right now.
Without further o' due, the following board maps out some of the main areas in industrial biotech, and personally helps me as a big-picture view that I can jump off from as I explore.
Note: I will be migrating this Miro Board to an Obsidian-style "garden" soon. This should better accommodate added information and details on individual topics with linkable nodes with separate pages.
